• You should stop blood thinners, such as aspirin, 10 days before the procedure.
• If you have diabetes, we definitely take your blood glucose under control before the surgery.
• If you are a smoker, you must stop smoking at least 3 hours before the surgery and for 3 weeks after the surgery.
• Patients should take shower with disinfectant soap in the night of the surgery.
• You should take off your jewelries and clean your nail polish and make-up before the surgery.
• You should stop eating at least 8 hours before the surgery.
• You should be at hospital 3 hours before the surgery and have your blood tests analyzed.

What Are Breast Reduction Techniques?

We use 3 important techniques for breast reduction, which is one of the procedures that we perform most successfully. We carry out breast reduction surgeries with inverted T breast reduction, lollipop breast reduction and breast reduction with graft technique in accordance with body structures of our patients. Lejour (Lollipop Breast Reduction)

This procedure is also called breast reduction with short scar. We make a lollipop shaped incision at the brown part of the nipple in this procedure. Lejour technique is a suitable method for women, who do not have extremely large breasts.

We do measurements from collar bone up to nipple and we employ this technique for breasts that are not larger than 33 cm.

Inverted T Breast Reduction

Reverse T breast reduction is one of the techniques we perform to reduce size of breasts. The most important aspect of this technique is that it is suitable for all breasts.

We make an incision on the inframammary crease in this method that we employ for breasts that are larger than 33 cm. The scar remains under bikini and it heals quickly. We want to specify that comparing to Lejour technique, a larger breast skin is removed in inverted T method.

Breast reduction with Graft Technique

Graft technique is the name of another method. We perform the breast reduction in this procedure, while neurovascular bundle of the nipple is left untouched. We perform this technique in patients at advanced age.

Since milk ducts will impair, patients cannot nurse babies after the surgery. Since this method is employed for patients at advanced ages, inability to lactate does not create a problem.

Is Breast Reduction Procedure Risky?

One of the questions frequently asked by the patients, who will have breast reduction, is whether the procedure is risky or not. Risks of breast reduction procedure are as follows:

Your bandages will be taken off in the follow-up visit. • It is sufficient to rest for 5 to 7 days after the surgery. • You may start wearing sports bra 3 weeks after the surgery. • You may start light exercises and swimming in sea 1 month later.

Is Postoperative Pain Severe In Breast Reduction Surgery?

Postoperative pain applies to all surgical procedure. Therefore, you should use the painkillers regularly and as instructed after the surgery. Contrary to popular belief, breast reduction surgeries are not severely painful. Recovery period is short, although it is subject to interpersonal variations.

Does Breast Reduction Cause Cancer?

The perception “aesthetic procedures cause cancer” that you hear is totally wrong and does not have a basis.

What are the Considerations After Breast Reduction?

You can drive 3 weeks after breast reduction surgery and you can travel by plane 4 days after the surgery. You can easily resume your social life following a resting period of 6 to 7 days.

Do not lie supine (to avoid pressure on your breasts), do not lift heavy objects, do not move your arms too much and do not wear too tight clothes.
