Highlighting palm line surgery

Highlighting palm line surgery

OP. DR. YUNUS DOĞAN

All hands on deck!

Have you ever pondered how long you’ll live? Considered yourself cursed in love? Wished for wealth and wondered where your career is taking you? There are so many questions in life and if you’re looking for answers, there are many places to find them. If you’ve planned to have plastic surgery in Istanbul, you can drink Turkish coffee and have the coffee grounds read. If caffeine isn’t your cup of tea, you can consult a Tarot card reader.

Some people believe in palmistry, or palm reading, to foresee their futures. Historically found in Asian cultures, palm line reading focuses mainly on three prominent lines in your palms: the Life Line, Head Line and Heart Line. If you just looked at your palm and are curious about your own creases, visit this website for great details and illustrations.

A skilled palm reader can look at these lines and help you determine how long you’ll live as well as the quality of your life, your way of thinking and overall mental capacity, and your attitude toward love and the quality of love you will achieve and receive.

What if your lines aren’t as long as you want them to be? Many people want to live long, healthy lives, enriched by money and/or romance. There is a plastic surgery that alters your palm lines if you think you can change your destiny. Talk about taking your future into your own hands!

This article is the seventeenth in a series highlighting some of the most popular plastic surgery procedures. In the Highlighting series, we tell you ALL the alternative names of the surgery so you learn the medical terminology as well as develop a little street cred with slang terms. We share a little history of the procedure and describe the general process. We mention possible complications and give you an idea of the typical recovery time.

Also known as/similar or related names are: Chiromancy, palm line surgery, palmar crease surgery, palmistry.

First recorded

We might as well talk to the hand because the head’s having a hard time figuring out when the very first palm line surgery occurred. Although many online resources give credit to the Japanese for pioneering this procedure, the Japanese bow out to the Koreans.

Tokyo-based Dr. Takaaki Matsuoka is quoted in an article by this American online publication, saying he researched Korean methods of palm line surgery after being approached by a curious patient in 2011. His patient wanted to change her luck by having her palm lines altered. Dr. Matsuoka studied what the Koreans were doing and used an electric scalpel to change his patient’s palm lines.

General process

According to Dr. Matsuoka, the electric scalpel is the only way to create lines that last. As quoted in that same American online publication, he describes his technique as using “a shaky incision on purpose, because palm lines are never completely straight.” He also said burning the skin is paramount in creating lines that last. A laser’s marks will heal and a regular scalpel’s lines won’t form.

There’s another online resource, iCliniq, with an article debunking Dr. Matsuoka’s allegiance to the electric scalpel. As iCliniq suggests, surgeons can use a traditional incision method or lasers. There’s also the tissue-expansion method, where a small, balloon-like device is placed under the skin. It will inflate and stretch the palm’s tissue, creating new and modifying existing lines. There’s also the hyaluronic acid injection option, where fillers are injected to change palm line direction, length or shape.

Once your high-fiving surgeon has chosen his method, he will give you local or general anesthesia prior to working his magic. After the cutting/slicing/inflating is completed, any incisions are closed with sutures or surgical glue.

What could go wrong?

Complications that may occur include:

  • Bleeding - as you are having a body part sliced into, either by an actual scalpel or laser, there is a chance for bleeding. Contact your surgeon if it gets out of hand.
  • Infection - all surgeries carry the risk of infection but proper hygiene in and out of the operating room should keep you safe.
  • Swelling - some swelling is typical after nearly all types of plastic surgery but should abate over time.

What could go right?

You’ll have the whole world in your hand with:

  • Higher self-esteem - thinking your palm lines could indicate a happier life might just make it so!
  • Corrected deformities - finding freedom from any physical deformity you may have been born with.
  • Fearless fortune telling sessions - entering a palm reader’s room without fear of what your future may hold.

Recovery time

Your hands will obviously need to rest after this procedure. If you’ve chosen your surgeon based on our recommendations, he or she will have given you a detailed recovery plan. Have you enlisted the help of a companion during your convalescence? If so, have them read this so they can give you the best care, hands down.

The last stitch

While there is no scientific proof that a palm line surgery will enhance your life, there might be enough merit in how it would make you feel inside. Just as breast implants can enhance a woman’s physical appearance as well as her confidence, fresh palm lines may empower you to dive into a new career, shaking hands and making a difference. You may think you’re more level-headed with longer Head Lines. Palm line surgery could help you get your hands on that lover you’ve been pining after.

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, where does confidence begin?
